Mushrooms at the Santa Catalinas

Originally painted plein this scene of the mountains outside Tucson, Arizona. I've recently begun a series of paintings of mushrooms. After learning of the discovery of a rare purple mushroom in the Santa Catalina mountains, I decided to include these tiny mushrooms in a studio rendition of the scene. The work was completed on one of my few remaining pieces of Wallis sanded paper.
