Three on a Match
Creating a richly textured pastel painting with a variety of techniques is fascinating. Choosing which elements, from my photo, to keep or eliminate was vital. The criss cross of wires and telephone poles introduce specific man-made and historical (soon to be gone) elements into a free-form painting of the clouds and birds in nature. Nature and Humans - blended and opposing. Three poles have power lights which remind one of how precarious is life and nature .. thus "Three on a Match" is reminiscent of the World War situations where soldiers would not light more than three cigarettes per one match lest the enemy pinpoint their location and eliminate someone. We are always on the Edge.
