Loved painting this young woman’s expression, and feel I captured it here. Chose a bold color background to complement her yellow robe. Consider myself a sensitive person, and feel that helps me capture a person’s essence. Want the viewer to feel what I felt: she was sure of herself and I wanted to honor that about her. In turn, she made me feel confident! Painted with soft pastels on PastelMat, that surface is amazing and always inspires me to go for it. Have been alternating between that and LaCarte for portrait work.
