"Scheherazade" was inspired by the music Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. I began with a hard pastel underpainting fixed with Gamsol, and then applied a few acrylic paint gestural marks. I also added some ink patterns. The color scheme is based on imagining the exciting, vibrant festival at Baghdad, which is one of the movements in the suite.
