"Bolero" was painted with a variety of soft pastels and acrylic, with a hard pastel underpainting that was fixed with Gamsol. I began the painting with gestural acrylic mark-making based on the music "Bolero" by Ravel. I then chose colors intuitively. The emerging image reminds me of the swirling dress of a flamenco dancer.
