Root Pulled Free...Wanting to Grow Upright

The site of the painting subject is a canyon wall, and I was scouting out the subject matter, and literally was taken aback by the sight of this tree that literally had pulled its roots from the rock and was growing out of the side of the cliff. However, this tree was different than the others I saw. Instead of looking sideways, like most of them, the roots being pulled free on one side, had allowed it to grow straight up toward the sky!
