East Fork
This soft pastel painting is of one of my two favorite places in the world: the East Fork of the little Jemez River. The location shown is about halfway between the Valle Grande and the Las Conchas fishing trail in the Jemez mountains above Los Alamos New Mexico. September is the loveliest month in the Valle and its drainages. I have been going there with friends and family since childhood. Here I wanted to create a painting that captured the feel of the place in fall, one I could look at anytime I felt the need of the comfort and delight of a loved place.
