Sunlit Winter Grasses

I took the reference photo on a beautiful day hiking in the Dolly Sods Wilderness of West Virginia. there was a bit of snow on the ground creating the dappled light effect while the dried grasses from the year before shimmered in all kinds of brown to yellow hues. I did the block in with three values of nupastels and used an alcohol wash to set it into the paper before the dry application.
